A CANDID REVIEW OF THE ALINCO DJ-MD5

 I found the Alinco DJ-MD5 to be the best DMR hand held radio, yet.
The concept of DMR “code plugs” seems overwhelming at first, but it is
fairly straight forward. Firstly, program in the talk groups (think of these
as "rooms") you want to use; as many as you want. Then, program in
the channels –-> frequency, labels, and the talk group assignment to
that channel. Each channel is for a specific talk group and frequency.
In the case of a hotspot, the frequency would be the same on each
channel, just the label and talk group being different. Once this is done, simply set up the zones. Each zone is a bank of channels – maybe one
for your hotspot, one for a trip to Darwin re the various DMR or analog repeaters. Remember that when on a repeater you still need a channel
for each talk group! I found the software on the Alinco was better than several other brands of software. I could easily copy/paste and put the channels in the order I wanted in the zones. My DJ-G5 currently holds the entire database of DMR contacts and the display is the best of any radio
I have used. The display can stay on and NOT drain the battery, simply because it is OLED! I feel it's a great feature of the radio. In my opinion,
this is best DMR handheld anywhere near its price point. I am sure there
are some commercial radios that are better, but nowhere near its price.

to get" parts for Alinco's DX-70TH very popular and remotable 100W
all-mode transceiver. These parts may well be the last of their type obtainable from Alinco and USA.
These parts are NOT for outright
sale as we ordered them with the intention of continuing to repair
Alinco's discontinued but high performance DX-70TH transceiver. So, if you have a faulty DX-70TH
and would like it repaired then
please contact us. We often don't charge for a quick assessment to determine if your DX-70TH is economically possible to repair.
These DX-70TH parts include RF output stage FETs, multi-function
rotary switches, remote control
plug and lead assemblies, band
pass filter boards, etc.

Alinco's ERW-4C, ERW-7 and ERW-8 accessories are PC connection cables. ERW-4 is a serial cable. ERW-7 & ERW-13 are USB cables.

The ERW-8 is a new USB to mini-USB cable which allows a wider range of programming options, compared to the ERW-7.

The ERW-13 is new data programming cable for the new DJ-MD40!

NOTE; Alinco recommends use of the ERW-7 (not ERW-8) when updating firmware in their radios. 

The ERW-4C, ERW-7 and ERW-8 cables are common to all Alinco radios that are capable of PC programming.

For example; all versions of DR-135/435 series transceivers are PC programmable. Above programming cables are normally in stock.

Please note; Alinco ERW-series programming cables are NOT compatible with RT Systems programming software.
Please use COMPLETE RT Systems SOFTWARE AND CABLES.
Do not try to mix and match Alinco programming cables with RT Systems programming software.

Frequency programming software is NOT available from us or Alinco.

Alinco has freeware for DJ-X2/X3/X7/X2000 scanners which are compatible with the ERW-4C. See www.alinco.com .

For many Alinco transceivers, RT Systems at www.rtsystemsinc.com/ has programming packages complete with software and programming cable. We sell these packages on an order-only basis for usually
A$119 each. It takes about 7~10 days for us to receive them ex-USA. 

For DJ-196/296/496/596/C7 handhelds and DR-135/235/435/620/635 mobiles in particular, there is a 3rd party supplier in the USA that sells software under Alinco's authority. That 3rd party supplier's website is at http://www.cbtinc.net/radio/alinco .
